IMPORTING/EXPORTING FILES
TO/FROM SDRC

If your program supports AAF 1.0 or 1.1 or OMF 1.0 or 2.0:
We can save session files for interchange. These files will contain your audio and track names, but it will not copy your plug-ins or fader levels. This interchange format has been mostly tested with: Digital Performer, Pro Tools 6 (AAF) (you may need to buy an additional piece of software called Digitranslator -it's way overpriced), Logic Pro, Avid, Avid Express, and Final Cut Pro (Check your manual).

If your software does not support AAF 1.0 or 1.1 or OMF 1.0 or 2.0:
We have to use a more cumbersome approach by saving your audio as "stems." Stems are different files/ pieces of audio that have the same start time, aka 'original time stamp'. The simplest way to do this is to have them all start at 0:00:00, (all the way to the left).

How to save your audio as stems:

Ok, here's your session:

We need to change these into files that all start at zero.

1. Copy or record blank audio into each track at the very beginning (00:00:00)

2. Now select all the audio in a track, including the blank audio we just inserted, and "merge" it. In my software it's "Audio>Merge Soundbites."

Now you have this:

New audio files all start all the way at the left at zero with silence where there were blank spaces. These files can then be imported, slid all the way to the left, and will be in sync. Name these files appropriately (ex. GUITAR1). Export these files as WAV or AIFF files at at least 16 bit, 44.1 kHz (24 bit preferred). Put each song in its own folder on a drive, dvdr, or multiple cdr's. These files can then be imported, slid all the way to the left, and be in sync.
